The Chef To Go is. . . Michael Harrison A Lancashire lad, Michael has come a long way over the last twenty years or so.
A self-taught enthusiast with a grounding at Bolton Catering College, Michael developed his skills mainly in the North West but his travels have sent him on some culinary adventures to Los Angeles and a stint in Kent. If asked, Michael would say that his three main influences have been John Benson-Smith, Denis Depoitre and a few hundred books. Modest and yet messianic about food, Michael recently emulated Jamie Oliver with a 12 week Granada Television series called 'Chefs Challenge' in which young people were given a taste of the profession. As with Jamie's venture, one or two best youngsters still work in the kitchen in which they were trained. The links below are just a small snippet of the press coverage that Michael has received recently: Food & Drink Festival Nominations, Manchester News, August 2005 Valentine Ideas, The Guardian, February 2005 'Jeeves Waits on City Centre Stars', Manchester News, January 2003 |
